Questions
Thirteen, answered in full.
The same questions arrive in most opening conversations. We have grouped them into four registers — identity, distinction, fit, and engagement — and answered each at the depth the question deserves. Where a question is missing, the answer is in the room.

01 · Identity
What we are.
The firm, the framework, the cadence at which it runs.
Identity is the first thing a reader establishes and the last thing they revise. Begin here.
Q.01 What is Pitot Group?
Pitot Group is a strategy and intelligence firm, based in London, that measures how frontier AI systems interpret, rank, recommend and remember organisations. We work with senior leadership in premium categories — automotive, luxury, motorsport and premium consumer — through signal audits, strategic projects and bespoke intelligence platforms.
Q.02 What is ARES-C?
ARES-C is the proprietary framework Pitot uses to read how large language models describe and rank an organisation. It measures five dimensions: Authority, Reputation, Expertise Visibility, Signal Consistency and Context. Coherence across all five is what the machine rewards. Incoherence, however small, becomes dilution.
Q.03 How often is ARES-C updated?
ARES-C runs as a continuous surveillance layer across ten frontier AI systems and thirteen premium sectors. Readings are published through Pitot Index on a quarterly cadence for syndicated reports, and live for platform subscribers.
02 · Distinction
What we are not.
SEO. GEO. PR. The adjacent disciplines, and where each ends.
Pitot operates at the diagnostic altitude. The execution layers — search, generation, narrative — inherit the diagnosis. None of them produce it.
Q.04 How is Pitot different from SEO?
SEO optimises for keyword ranking inside search engines. Pitot operates upstream: we diagnose what frontier AI systems have already concluded about a brand across years of accumulated signal, and advise on the strategic recalibration required before any execution — SEO included — is deployed.
Q.05 How is Pitot different from GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation)?
GEO is the tactical layer — content and formatting adjustments designed to improve visibility inside generative answers. Pitot sits above it. We measure the coherence of the underlying signal the machine has already absorbed, identify what the GEO layer cannot fix on its own, and direct how the work should be sequenced.
Q.06 How is Pitot different from PR?
PR shapes narrative in human-facing media. Pitot reads how machines have already interpreted a brand — including the aggregated effect of every PR cycle, press release, campaign and public statement on the portrait AI now produces. The two are complementary. Pitot operates at the diagnostic altitude; PR is one of several execution layers that inherit the diagnosis.
03 · Fit
Who we work with.
Selectivity, sectors, and the in-house teams we sit alongside.
Engagements are selective and senior-led. We turn down work that would not benefit from the layer we provide.
Q.07 What industries does Pitot cover?
Automotive, luxury, motorsport, premium consumer, aerospace and selected financial services. Categories where precision is baseline and reputation compounds across decades.
Q.08 What type of organisations is Pitot designed for?
Pitot is designed for senior marketers, strategy leads and boards at established premium organisations. Engagements are selective and senior-led. We are not the right firm for early-stage companies, volume commodity brands, or teams looking for execution-only optimisation services.
Q.09 Can Pitot support in-house teams?
Yes. A significant share of our work augments in-house strategy, brand and communications teams — providing the diagnostic layer they cannot produce internally, and working alongside their execution partners.
04 · Engagement
How the work runs.
Form, duration, scope, and what an engagement costs.
Four engagement types. One conversation before any of them.
Q.10 What is a Signal Audit?
A Signal Audit is a structured reading of your organisation across the five ARES-C dimensions, benchmarked against a named competitive cohort. Delivered over four to six weeks as a written report, an in-person briefing and a working session with leadership. Outputs include AI visibility analysis, consistency review, risk flags, competitor comparison, strategic recommendations and a priority action plan.
Q.11 Can Pitot build bespoke intelligence software?
Yes. Bespoke Platforms are one of four engagement types: intelligence dashboards, custom ARES-C deployments, loyalty systems and proprietary software, specified and designed with selected build partners. Application only, limited in number each year.
Q.12 How long do projects take?
A Signal Audit runs four to six weeks. Strategic Projects are scoped individually and typically run between eight and twenty weeks. Bespoke Platforms are long-duration engagements scoped privately.
Q.13 What does a typical engagement cost?
Pitot does not publish rate cards. Engagements are senior-led and priced against scope. Enquiries are read by a senior partner within forty-eight hours, and a proposal follows an initial conversation.
The question still in the room
Most relationships begin with the question not yet listed.
Enquiries are read by a senior partner within forty-eight hours. If your question is here, the answer is above. If it is not, that is the conversation worth having.
